Program Philosophy

Program Mission Statement

The mission of the Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences program is to prepare radiologic technologists who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the profession of radiography.   By providing a foundation of academic excellence, clinical distinction, and experiential learning, the program will prepare individuals to collaborate effectively as part of a healthcare team to positively impact their communities.

Program Goals with Aligned Student Learning Outcomes

Goal 1: Demonstrate clinical competence in radiologic practice.

Aligned Learning Outcomes:

• Demonstrate proficiency in radiographic positioning, image acquisition, and evaluation
• Produce diagnostic-quality images across different patient populations and in multiple imaging modalities

Goal 2: Communicate effectively in healthcare environments.

Aligned Learning Outcomes:

• Demonstrate appropriate verbal, nonverbal, and written communication
• Collaborate effectively as members of the interprofessional team

Goal 3: Apply critical thinking in clinical practice.

Aligned Learning Outcomes:

• Integrate knowledge from science and radiologic practice
• Adapt imaging procedures based on patient condition and clinical context

Requirement for Graduation

Attainment of the degree requires satisfactory completion of 120 semester hours of credit. These hours are divided between the radiologic sciences major and other academic study. A total of 56 semester hours of academic studies outside the radiologic sciences major is required in the areas of natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, mathematics, business/management and cultural studies.
