CPR for the Healthcare Provider

Students are required to have completed a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider course prior to patient care clinical experiences.

Students can only take initial or renewal BLS/CPR for the Health Care Professional/Provider courses from the American Heart Association, Military Training Network (MTN) Resuscitation Programs or the American Red Cross. BLS/CPR for the Health Care Professional/Provider courses from other organizations will not be accepted. BLS/CPR courses that are not for the Health Care Professional/Provider will not be accepted.

Upon attainment of a new BLS/CPR certification, the student will provide proof of being current to designated College personnel. Students are responsible for obtaining and maintaining their CPR certification, including tracking expiration dates and completing recertification as required.

A student will not be allowed to continue clinical experiences until a current BLS/CPR certification  is obtained.

Students will be referred to the Vice President of Student Affairs for being in violation of the Student Code of Conduct for not maintaining a current CPR/BLS certification.
